Esposende
Esposende is a Portuguese city in the District of Braga, northern region and sub-region of Cávado
It is soothes of a small municipality with 95,41 km ² of area and subdivided in 9 parishes. The municipality is limited to the north by the municipality of Viana do Castelo, to the east by Barcelos, to the south by Póvoa de Varzim and to the west by the Atlantic Ocean.
The highest point of the county is located in Maceira, 281 meters high, in the parish of Vila Chã.
Tourism
Esposende is a small county in the Minho coast, whose natural wealth and heritage that surrounds itself makes it present as "A Privilege of Nature."
Its diversity is materialized on the Atlantic beaches of the seafront; in the small fluvial beaches of innumerable idyllic corners of the Cávado and Neiva rivers and in the various scenarios of rurality of forest and pine forest that the interior lodges.
It is this diversity of tones and sounds, tastes and odors, a true plurality of landscapes and patrimony - from natural to cultural, from enogastronomic to ethnographic - that has been the motto for the municipality to promote its region and its Tourism.
All this list of offerings is richly complemented by the affability and welcoming knowledge of the people of this Land of Sea.
This planted seaside garden, trimmed in its landscape by the Cávado and Neiva hydrographic basins and bordered to the west by the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean, holds settings of rare natural beauty.
In a county that reconciles all aspects of nature, Esposende has to offer extensive beaches and dunes, pine forests and forest areas with oak cores, mountains and cliffs, rivers and sea, all framed in a dynamic balance and that allow to state: "Esposende, a privilege of nature. "
Esposende has a unique patrimonial and landscape grandeur, which reveals itself in the architecture of the places and in the traditional customs and customs, stage and scenery for a very rich and intense cultural life, mainly based in the towns of Forjães, Apúlia, Fão and Esposende, where theatrical shows , musical and ethnographic competitions compete with gastronomic exhibitions and exhibitions, provided by several local communities and the Municipal Museum in Esposende.
The unique characteristics of its coastal fishing communities include the rural communities of the interior, strongly influenced by the Brazilian taste of the rich "makes-traveling", which in the first decades of the century. XX have brought remarkable residences to stand in splendor with the "chalets" in the Art Nouveau style of the vacationers.
Holiday destination, leisure and rest of poets, writers, journalists, musicians, architects, sculptors and painters, immortalized him in his work and art, where monuments and landscapes are the protagonists.
A walk through the festive calendar of Esposende reveals that its parishes promote annually, by the geographical territory of this maritime county, numerous festivals and pilgrimages.
This festive itinerary is very filled, starting soon in the first month of the year with the Santo Amaro de Belinho.
The celebrations of Holy Week reach their peak in the city of Esposende and Bom Jesus de Fão, whose feast of pascoela Sunday, is a source of pride for all the fangueiros.
Gastronomy
In Esposende, the traditional Portuguese gastronomy is held captive at the table of our restaurants. The dedication to the good art of making and serving large portions, "true delicacies of the gods", reflect the purity, variety, genuineness and tradition of our cuisine where they pontificate the endogenous food products that characterize our Atlantic diet, our sea and river.

The menus, for example, of the succulent sea bass - roasted in the oven or rice - without forgetting the sardines and cod cooked in "a thousand and one ways", or the rich seafood of our coast and the lamprey, delight of all of us and represent an odd gastronomic poster in the region and in the country.

In the company of the tasting of these dishes are the Quinta Verde Wines, light, soft and aromatic from the sunny slopes of the Neiva and Cávado valleys.

The conventual and sweet flames of Fão, the cavacas or folhadinhos complete a sumptuous meal.

Esposende is still a small paradise in the field of preservation of these Gastronomic Treasures that correspond to centuries old traditions, a "heavy" heritage of cultural roots that identify this county as "Terra de Mar".
Weather
The Esposende climate has four well defined seasons. The winters are very rainy and cold, and generally with moderate Southwest winds. The springs are typically fresh, with large openings and gentle winds. The summers are hot and sunny with gentle winds from the east. On cooler days, short-term rainfall may occur spontaneously. Autumns are mild and pluvial, usually with moderate winds.
